Don't want to add too many images because I have many that are not too different or just don't show as much change as I would like. So here are the highlights of my build so far. Pepakura on the duct tape dummy (after building most parts 2-3x already) Here it is with liquid plastic and fiberglass cloth inside....ready for bondo! So after many bondo sessions, primer and paint.. I get to this point. I still need to add parts such as the tubes on the arms and the chest logo, but overall, at least I have the main construction done for these pieces. Here is my Cyber Leader helmet with the holes/vents filled in and fresh new paint. The brain dipped in latex then repainted to give it a much better look and texture...oh and much more realistic paint on the brain. Hate that grey plastic brain they come with! You can see the difference with my Cyber Controller helmet. Wish the flash did not drain some of the color.

This weekend I will by trying to make my first glove. I have the right hand sculpt done, just a matter of making the mold tomorrow I hope. I pray it turns out well. I would like to have 2 pairs of gloves at the con in case something happens to the 1st....or my hands sweat to death in them and they need to air out.

Made a glove, but... I have to make a new mold because the one I made was too big. It looked almost the same size as my hand, but in the end was huge. Will have to pick up some clay this week and try to mold my hands to get better sizing. Will be putting this on the back burner for sure until I get the last few pieces ready for bondo at least since weather is getting cooler and I want to bondo while I still have decent temps. Hate waiting for bondo to harden enough for a good sanding.
This weekend I did manage to work the pepakura files enough to make a new logo (Matt Smith era) minus the small tabs on the outer ring. I figure I will add those with bondo later since they just stick out and not go all the way down it looks like from images I have found. Working last leg and shoes now.

I have to build my pieces very large compared to the way the pep files come, then cut them down. My thighs I think are increased 15 or 20% just because I am not a stick person. Between sports and genetics, I will never be that thin lol. So trust me, I fully understand the rebuilding. I built one thigh 3x before I just gave up and said... build it big and dissect it then glue it back together. Here is a pic I took this weekend of the glove and part of the clay hand I used for the mold. I am sooo happy I at least have the color I want for the glove. Very close to my silver I am using on the suit. Weather forecast is saying rain on Monday, so I may be redoing this Monday if I have no more indoor work I can do. Here is my mold

5 pieces as of tonight are now ready for bondo. Would love to get some of them finished tomorrow. If not, I will try to get them done this week for sure. That would put me ahead of schedule I think. Will leave me with 1 piece to build still and one to alter or build depending on the materials I decide to use.
After that, I guess I will add the extra pieces such as the screws and rods. I need to order some more plastic tomorrow because I want the screws to be plastic since bondo on them may be a pain to sand. But will see when I get to this point. Oh and the chest logo. I am filling it with plastic too then work it with my pre-amp, so attaching it with velcro I think. Will have to maybe add some backing to it so it stays flush to the chest piece.
Last on my list... under suit and gloves. I figure this will take about a week once I get the under suit pants and shirt. I have all the materials I want to use. I have a choice of the latex panels I made or using the foam. I am leaning towards the foam since I think it would be easier to attach.
So I guess, when I look at it this way.. not too much left to go.

I thought about one of those when I was at the Halloween store here locally (glad it is open year round since they have latex by the gallon). My only problem with it is having to alter it a bit for the head (or I suppose it can be left as is) and the biggest thing... going to the bathroom. I didn't want to have to take my whole suit apart plus take a suit like that off just to go. But I guess if I think about it hard enough, there may not be much difference between that suit and just going with 2 pieces of underarmor.
My piece have clips so I can ensure they stay in place, so I also worry about this type of material holding the clip and not stretching or ripping. I guess that is the downside to my parts, they are heavier then foam and foam can stay in place without strapping it in for the most part.
This is going to really require some thinking. Maybe thermal underwear would work for me?

Sounds good, I for sure have to have something capable of holding some weight. My only other option is have the clips connect to an elastic/velcro style band, but that could cut off circulation if too tight, or start slipping once I break a sweat. There may be something else, but that is all I have come up with.

Will post more images next weekend most likely since I have finals this week in a class and I was unable to finish the work I wanted to get done this weekend. Almost finished it, but not quite. Good part is, once I get these pieces finished up I only have 3 to go and only 1 needs to be built. Then it is on to the under suit

Odd, my post never showed up. Anyway, 99% done with outer pieces. The last 1% is just attachments, so indoor work at least. Will worry about all that later as I am racing against the cold weather. Tomorrow morning I plan to cast my arms and start on the glove process. It may take the whole week to get them ready for latex, but I am going to try it. I want to have the best gloves I can get until I am in a crunch, then I will settle for some silver spray paint.... As I am waiting for the molds and latex to dry over the next few weeks I will be working on the under suit and harnesses to hold my parts up. That is the one downside to using bondo and plastic. However, I know I can take getting run into and abuse since these parts are pretty darn hard. If I manage to fall over at least I know it will take the fall, or pretty sure it will. Can't say I would fare as well. Walking is going to be a huge challenge too until I can get used to it. I tried the leg pieces on today and I will say... I now know why cybermen take smaller steps. Kinda hard to walk in all that. Anyway, here is what I call the end of Phase 1....

Your suit looks Great... Your hard work and long hours of fighting fiberglass has paid off. You should be proud of your work you did a really good job with it....I may not get mine finished any time soon... Im not finding myself with the right opportunities to be able to sit down and work on it as much as i need to be doing. The cold weather is really setting in here in where im at and it has done nothing but rain here for atleast the last 4 days in a row now too.
I still have not built my lower legs or feet as of yet, I have been very busy with (Life) and that hasnt included any time towards my costume lately. I just printed out the .pdf file for the feet but they look to be to huge to even use, so im concerned about even making a PEP foot to use as a template for one. Im toying with freehand scratch building them but i dont know what my next move is really.....im in that "frozen" state of mind about my plan of action for now and im working it out in my head at times even though im not actually working with parts in my hand. Its getting to be too cold to spray paint outside so that has me worried that i am about to be forced to wait until spring of 2013 (YIKES) You have been punching forward faster than i have and im feeling left behind, Although im happy with what i have so far.....er i think i am.

Sorry to hear you can't go to Tardis. I completely understand. Plus you have to make sure kids have x-mas.
I am hoping I can get everything done as quickly as I like to think I can because I still have some Sontaran things to finish up for the fiancee. I am planning to finish up the gloves Monday and have been playing with the clay all day today. Have 1 glove left to add the details then it is time to make the molds. Monday I think is the last chance. Temp of about 66 which is hottest day in the forecast.
Just got the back piece back to my helmet from a friend and need to figure out how to attach it. I may take it and the mask to home depot and just walk down the hardware isles and play with things that may work until something strikes and idea. If the gloves work out, I will post pics Wednesday or Thursday. Once I get the latex in the mold I plan to leave it in a few days to make sure it is dry and should be good to go. If these turn out too big then I will just wear a thin cotton liner under them which I would like to do anyway in a way because of the sweat.

Just a quick note.... gloves are drying for at least another 20 hours. Mostly in my garage with my space heater so I can keep it warm out there.
Helmet is almost done. Using my heat gun to stretch out the back piece and added magnets to hold it in place and help with lining it up. Been sanding it to try and help line it up. Can't get it flush but it is not looking to bad just a few areas that stick up too much. Scared to sand too much since I don't want it too tight or small. Should have some images tomorrow
