Welcome to the board... Are you new to building or do you already have a suit?

Sadly I am new to the Cybermen building. I would like to learn how, and build a Cyber Legion in Georgia.

Welcome Andrew! Glad you found us and I would love to see you build a cyberman! Perhaps in the near future I will be living not too far from you and can meet up with you at conventions or something to give a stronger presence. I am from North Carolina and trying to get a job anywhere from GA to DC so I can be close to my family. If I end up in your area, I would be more then willing to help out any way I can. What construction method are you planning to use? Are you going with a Cybus or .... do the new ones with Matt Smith have an official name? I feel like I should know since I built that type lol. I feel so bad now. But I have honestly never seen them labeled as anything... MKVIII? Now I have to go look into this again or see if I can get a hold of a contact across the pond.

Andrew.. If i were you i would spend some in depth time studying up on "Cyber Designs" From there you can decide from what Cyber erra to "UPGRADE TO" There are many methods to create your copy design from which ever erra you choose from. Some of these methods are easier than others and some are much more complex....
Which ever way you decide to go, i would ask myself a few questions like: Are you patient enough to make mistakes and not give up? What types of materials have you ever worked with? Do you have any costume design experience? Do you own a hot glue gun? Do you own an exacto knife? Do you need to make a trip to the hobby store? Have you ever worked with Bondo or any type of fiberglass materials? Do you have enough ref pics of the design you want to re create? How much money do you want to spend on this project? Can you think "outside the box"?
If you do not own materials (crafting tools) then you may want to start there.. and if looking to recreate the most current Cyber designs, you may want to purchase a Cyberman voice mask, because starting there would mean that you do not have to build that part. (just a thought) Im not trying to steer you in a direction here. (cough cough) maybe i am.
Anyways..as you already know google is your friend for what ever information you need and if your looking for insight you are welcome to turn to us. And on another note......... Personally my feelings about naming these latest cybermen a MKVIII or any MKV name seems a bit too (IRON MAN MARK blah blah blah) and not at all cyberman (ish) and if i had to dubb them a name i guess i would call them Mondas Men or the Mondasian......just my opinion.

The problem is Cybermen are already MK #s lol. If I was not a huge Iron Man fan I would maybe not care for it either since they are going through suits left and right in the movies... But to me it is no big deal, just wish they would confirm if they are a MK VIII or not since Big Finish used the MK VIII name but the image was not like the Cybus style. So technically if the BBC acknowledges the Big Finish version, then there is a whole generation of cybermen missing and the new Matt Smith era would be MK IX. I have no idea who the expert on this is but now I am wanting to know even more what the official name is. I have seen it called both the MK VIII and then just called 12th Cyber Legion with no designation.
UGH, Sorry, I have taken over your introduction on this. Will start a new thread on this lol, could be fun to get everybody's opinion until we find out officially. Wish John Barrowman had battled Cybermen since I will see him this weekend I could ask if I had a few minutes.

I'm Dave from Minnesota, I've already built a Dalek and brought it to Britcon, I just spent an hour on the phone with Mr. Duca yesterday working out my 2nd Dalek project. I've started a Cyberman build a few weeks ago and plan to attend the Chicago Tardis show this fall with both. Dave just tuned me to this site, I can post photos and possibly offer support to other builders, this is quickly becoming a fun build and it would be cool not to be the only one upgraded in my area!

Hi Dave! Glad Dave Duca told you about us! I would love to see you with a Cyberman at Chicago Tardis, too bad I just moved from MN about 6 months ago, I would have died to have another Cyberman up there with me. I plan to ship my Cyber Scout there since the Cybus style is WAY too many parts. Feel free to join us on Facebook also if you have an account on there!
